In August 2001 mountain bikers from around the world descended on the Alpine Valley Resort for the NORBA North Central Bike Championships. This elite class of hard core mountain bikers represented both pro and non-pro racers. Riders were selected from this group for in depth interviews about their riding habits, riding preferences, gear preferences and bicycle configuration.
SRAM garnered a rich understanding of the emerging trends and preferences of this "expert" racing group. This knowledge was applied to the development of mountain bike gear for all levels of riders.
